Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need X-rays?

There are many instances where x-rays provide valuable information; however, we do not require x-rays from every new patient. Your chiropractor will advise you on the need for x-rays on an individual case by case basis.

Is chiropractic painful?

Chiropractic care is generally not painful as Doctors of Chiropractic are trained to use gentle effective techniques.

Will I get adjusted on the first visit?

This will be determined by your chiropractor following your initial assessment and discussions.

Is chiropractic safe?

Chiropractic is non-invasive, drug -free discipline. As a result, the risks associated with chiropractic care are very low. Adverse events are very rare, and your chiropractor will assess you individually for any risks before commencing care.

Will I need to remove my clothes?

Most treatments or examinations do not require the removal of clothing. However, depending on the nature of your concern and exam procedures performed, it may be necessary in certain situations to remove some clothing. Your chiropractor will only ask you to remove clothes if necessary and will always provide appropriate alternatives such as gowns or shorts.

How long before I feel better?

Many patients will notice some instant relief following their first adjustment, others will take longer to respond. Various factors will affect initial symptomatic relief, including length and severity of the presenting concern, together with other medical conditions present and compliance to recommendations.

Is chiropractic appropriate for children?

Yes! Many families benefit from chiropractic care for their children, from infancy through teenage years, for various health concerns such as colic or constipation and ongoing wellness care. Chiropractic provides a safe, gentle, and natural solution for your child. Ask your chiropractor how chiropractic care can benefit your child.

If I start, do I always need to go?

Your chiropractor is always glad to help and is capable of supporting your needs whether you are in acute pain, recovering from an injury or are interested in maintaining a wellness lifestyle. Many families have realized that keeping the spine in proper working order is a superior strategy compared to waiting for pain to arise. Regular chiropractic checkups should be used in conjunction with other wellness strategies, such as regular exercise and proper nutrition, as an overall strategy to achieve optimal health.

What will it cost?

The cost of your treatment is calculated according to a standard “fee for service”. There are set fees for initial visits and treatment visits. Once your practitioner has determined the type and duration of care necessary to help you achieve the results you desire, it is easy to calculate exactly what the regimen of care will cost.

Is my treatment covered by OHIP?

No. While it is disappointing that the types of care offered at our office are not covered by OHIP, it is useful to remember that OHIP resources are stretched to the maximum providing care to people whose health has been greatly compromised. The responsibility for maintaining your health is yours.

Does my extended health insurance cover the cost of my care?

May insurance benefit plans do cover the cost of care either fully or partially. Please speak directly to your insurance provider to discover what your plan covers. Some insurance providers require a note of referral from a medical doctor to cover the cost of massage therapy. Why? Because placing a barrier like that between you and your care decreases the number of claims they pay by 20%!

How can I pay?

We gratefully accept cash, cheque, debit, VISA and Mastercard. Payment is expected when service is rendered, and a receipt will be offered which can be submitted to your insurance company for compensation where applicable.

What is your cancellation policy?

We request 48 hour notice for cancellation of massage appointments specifically to allow us to offer that time slot to another patient on a wait-list. Missed massage appointments will be billed to you directly.

Do you have gift certificates?

Yes! We offer gift certificates for any of our services and in any amount of your choosing.
